The TechNewz AI Adoption Index: What We’re Building, and Why

By TechNewz.live Research · Published August 2026

AWARE PILOTING SCALING EMBEDDED

We are building a recurring, disclosed index measuring how mid-market and enterprise B2B technology buyers actually adopt AI — not a competitor to institutional efforts like Stanford HAI’s AI Index or McKinsey’s State of AI, but a narrower, more specific lens those larger studies don’t focus on. This page explains what it will measure, how, and what we’re committing to before a single number gets published.

What this index measures

Stanford’s AI Index and McKinsey’s State of AI cover the global state of AI — research output, investment, public sentiment, organizational adoption across every industry. Ours won’t try to compete with that scale, and claiming otherwise would be dishonest. Instead, the TechNewz AI Adoption Index focuses specifically on B2B technology buyers — the CIOs, CISOs and procurement leads who make up this site’s actual readership — and specifically on adoption stages: where a given function sits between first awareness and AI being embedded in daily operations, not just a binary yes/no on whether AI is used somewhere in the organization.

Our methodology

Two components, kept clearly separate rather than blended into one number that hides which parts are original and which are cited:

  • Original survey data. A periodic survey of TechNewz.live’s own reader base. Sample size, response dates and response rate will be published alongside every result — not buried in a footnote. If the sample is small on a given run, we’ll say so plainly rather than let a reader assume otherwise.
  • Cross-referenced context. Every original finding will be checked against public benchmarks from Stanford HAI, McKinsey and similar established research, with direct attribution. Where our data and the larger studies diverge, we’ll say so and explain why, rather than quietly picking whichever number looks better.

What we won’t do

This site already commits to no sponsored placements in the editorial. The same standard applies here:

  • No results published from a survey we haven’t actually run
  • No presenting a small sample as if it were representative
  • No vendor or sponsor gets early access, influence over questions, or a preview of results before publication
  • No number gets published without its methodology visible on the same page

Where we are right now

Nowhere close to publishing a first score yet, and we’d rather tell you that directly than pad this page with numbers that don’t exist. The immediate next step is designing and running the first reader survey. If you want to be part of it when it opens, sign up below — we’ll only use this to invite you to participate, nothing else.

Want to be part of the first survey?

We’ll email you once, when it opens — not before.
